Keith Barker is a native Washingtonian, but grew up a farm boy in Northeast Ohio.  He now lives in Brookeville Maryland with his bride of 39 years and they have 3 adult children.  Over 45 years ago, he caught his first bass on a Hula Popper on the Ohio Canal. He’s been hooked on bass fishing ever since and he is a closet cat man too. Ask him about his secret weapon for Monster Blue Cats in the Potomac River.

Capt’n. Keith has over 20 years experience on the Tidal Potomac and Maryland’s Eastern Shore rivers.  He is a United States Coast guard licensed Captain and a licensed Maryland Freshwater & Tidalwater Guide. Capt’n Keith is also trained in first aid and C P R.  H e specializes in the tidal Potomac and it tributaries and the Eastern Shore Rivers & knows many of the bass that reside in these waters on a first name basis.

Capt’n Keith drives a Ranger Bay 2400 fully tournament rigged boat.  It’s a cross between a flats boat and a bass boat.  Capt’n Keith calls it a bass boat on steroids. It’s powered by a 225 HP Mercury OptiMax.  The boat is equipped with 8” & 10”  HDS Lowrance depth sounders/GPS including LSS-1 Structure Scan Sonar and Sirius Satellite Weather.  He is a Lowrance Pro Staffer.

His hobbies are hunting and fishing, especially goose hunting. He speaks fluent Canadian Goose.  He is a member of the Hevi Shot Pro Staff and is active in operating the Rock Hall Gunning Club, a large hunt club in Kent County Maryland.  The club hunts over 15 farms on the Eastern Shore and enjoys world class waterfowl, turkey and deer hunting. 

Capt’n Keith has volunteered as an adult leader for over 20 years serving as a Scout Master & merit badge counselor for Boy Scout Troop 403 in Bowie, M D.  In his career as a Scouter he has taught over 1,000 Boy Scouts and their parents the joys of fishing.
